According to a new study, it turns out that not only women with anorexia nervosa feel very strongly about gaining fat. The study found that when healthy women see an overweight woman, their brains react negatively, “increasing feelings of unhappiness and even selfloathing”.

Men in the study showed no such response. The study shows that under society’s pressure of conforming to a lean body type, even happy and healthy women have a subconscious fear of getting fat.
