With Fall and Winter coming, and with them the season’s ailments (swine flu, anyone?), you’re bound to find yourself sick one time or the other.

But how do you call in sick without jeopardizing your job or pissing your boss off?

An article by Health.com seems to have the answer. Their tips:

    1. Call in sick over the phone – Not on email. And do this as early on the day as possible.
    2. Make sure you apologize.
    3. Keep the call short and to the point.
    4. Don’t fake it over the phone (fake coughs are considered overselling it, according to the article).
    5. Don’t overdo it on Mondays and Fridays, or it will look suspicious.
