An ENT suggested before getting up and out of bed in the a.m. Do 5 to 6 sit up type exercise... It helps to balance the fluid in our inner ear. Years ago this happened to me and exercise helped a lot. It's happening again..especially with certain head/neck movement. Started doing the sit up motion and it seems to help.

Hi I have been experiencing massive head spins for the last 9 months or so. It gets that bad at time it makes me very sick to my stomache. I get them while just sitting watching tv or just talking to someone. I have even had them while driving which is spooky as the whole world is spinning and I never just get 1 headspin its always another major one on top of the first one as its subsiding. I am lost on what could be wrong? Any suggestions???
Thank you, Lisa

Since 4/21/11 : I was at work and as I was helping a customer over the phone I became DIZZY as everything around me was moving all around me. Went to hospital; had all tests done MRI to CATSCAN, to bloodwork...all negative...have me on antivert seems to help slowed down the spinning cycle, been out of work since then to this date I am writing this post. However I am still off balanced when I get up, walking, in car(not driving) hitting bumps my vision blurry then clears; my ears are ringing (I am deaf in both ears - wear hearing aids, able to hear with them; deaf since birth, now over 50ys of age). I have seen audiologist for hearing tests and VNG(Videonystagmography). The specialist stated do no seem to think I have BPPV(Benign positional vertigo is condition in which a person develops a sudden sensation of spinning, usually when moving the head. It is the most common cause of vertigo.) Also believes I do not have Meniere's disease(Meniere's disease is an inner ear disorder that affects balance and hearing.) . After performing the VNG test believes my right ear have a VIRAL INFECTION that brought on this vertigo spinning (just non stop in one day for me). Now I have to wait on the ENT(Ear, Nose, Throat) Doctor on what the TRUE findings are or is there any more tests he wants me to have. Now that I am home, I have still the sensation of things moving around, not as severe on 4/21/11. I have fallen on a few occasions, only due to I lose my balance. Can any medical profession can tell me here if YOU have had patients who are deaf like me with a little hearing or none come across this with them and what have you done to HELP them or ADVISED them on what to do. Thanks for ANY inputs you may have for me.

Ira, you should indeed visit an ENT specialist, as it sounds as if your problem may be ear related by the way you describe it.

The problem come and go for about a year now. The first time almost make me fall from the stairs. Usually it happens when I wake up in the morning or I make to many fast movement. I went thru full medical check up(xclude ENT) and the result was perfect. Should I go for ENT then? I want to know the root causes and get over with it as it really disturbing my quality life.
