• Electronic Cigarettes – Good or Bad For You?

    The premise

    An electronic cigarette (or e-cigarette), according to Wikipedia, is a “battery-powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by delivering a vaporized propylene glycol/nicotine solution”.

    What this means is that the e-cigarette is supposed to give you the fun of smoking, as well as the addicting substance in regular cigarettes (nicotine), without the bad stuff – the tobacco (you can read here why smoking regular cigarettes is bad for you).

    The news

    Last Wednesday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals. The FDA analyzed 19 varieties of electronic cigarettes, and found that half of them contained nitrosamines. Nitrosamines are the same carcinogens (materials that can cause cancer) found in real cigarettes. Many of the other e-cigarette brands also contained diethylene glycol, which is a poisonous ingredient found in antifreeze.

    • Hi, I’ve been using electronic cigarettes for a couple of months, and I highly recommend it. It helped me quit smoking ordinary cigarettes.

      You might what to watch the youtube video of the lady from NJ who proved to a city board members that the approved public water of NJ of just one glass of water has more precentage of the same chemicals than the fda found in the one cart of the e cig. Ps the FDA report was on one of the earilest model, and she also proved the inconsitances in the fda report, and why. FDA, guess what they have evolved tremendously. We can drink the water just can't vap ? Really?

      The results from the FDA's studies are very biased and they made electronic cigarettes look bad. However they are probably one of the best inventions that have came along in a very long time.

      Out of the 19 cartridges that they tested they found less than 1% diethylene glycol in only 1 of the cartridges. Big tobacco, big pharm, insurance companies as well as the GOV want these products to be taken off the market. This is simply because this great new technology will save to many lives and reduce that amount of tax money that the GOV receives.

      i agree 100 percent the FDA i think is just trying to make the ecigs look bad. They only tested on the shitty products, but not ones like the white cloud or prosmoke. Which are the best two

      Where did you get your information? I was considering trying to help cut back and quit smoking. Now I am somewhat hesitant after reading the FDA article. Your information helps if the source can be trusted. I'm very aware of big business and how twisted statements work. I don't believe most people are aware of how our technological innovations are never released due to big business and losses in major industries. Well, in any case, I rambled as usual but don't want to pay 9 dollars a pack in January with the bill passed by the leader....I still wil investigate the ES.
