Turns out China is going to become the first country to provide vaccines for its population for swine flu, starting soon (a matter of weeks, it seems).
Who will get priority for being the first to receive the vaccine?
- About 200,000 people taking part in the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
- Students aged 5-19
- People with medical conditions
- Pregnant women
The only problem? No mass vaccinations have been done with this vaccine yet, so the side effects it might cause are still unknown.
Another problem is that this vaccine is only suitable for people aged 3-60. On the other hand, most casualties from the disease so far have been of relatively young people.
Now one question remains: When will this vaccine reach the rest of us…
