As you probably know by now, you shouldn’t believe everything you read in the papers. This doesn’t only apply to celebrity gossip, but also to health issues.
Woman’sDay published a list of 10 myths you (probably) thought were true and they’re on a mission to debunk them. For example: “If you’re having a heart attack, you’ll feel chest pain” – women in particular may experience shortness of breath and not suspect they are having a heart attack.

Another myth – “You only need to worry about cholesterol if you’re overweight” -
“While it’s true that women who are overweight are at higher risk for having elevated cholesterol levels, there are also plenty of slender people who have cholesterol problems, says Jo Parrish, vice president of the Society for Women’s Health Research. The organization surveyed women and found that 83 percent knew how much they weighed in high school but only 21 percent knew their total cholesterol number.”

The “heart attack = pain in chest” idea is definitely something that needed to be brought to light. My grandmother was experiencing shortness of breath a few months back, and she kind of wrote it off to doing too much walking earlier in the day. It didn't go away, so she thought she would call the advice nurse, since she didn't think it was anything serious. Luckily, the advice nurse steered her in the right direction and had her go to the ER, because she had a mild heart attack.
