We asked, you answered, and here are the official results:

• Most of you (a staggering 80%) think it will just go away.
• 13% of you are very concerned about it not going to go away any time soon.
• 7% of you never heard about it or just don’t care.

What does it mean?

For the most part, it means our readers are an optimistic bunch. On the more global scale, it shows that people count on our health systems to do their jobs or just don’t believe all the hype over the swine flu is justified.

On a more personal note, over the last few days we’ve been providing you with constant swine flu information via Twitter. Since you’re clearly not in panic, and since our own thoughts on the subject aren’t very different than what was shown in the poll, we’ll be going back to our “regular programming” on Twitter. That is, providing you both with regular site updates and health news and tips.

A few days ago we covered swine flu here on A Disease A Day, and since then a lot has happened: “Patient zero” was found, the disease spread to more countries, and the WHO have raised the pandemic flu alert level.

Reactions on Twitter range from “Swine Flu ? dont believe a word of it……………………………. And pigs mite fly” (@FONEJACKER12009) to “My head hurts. I’m getting swine flu..” (@iStefanie).
